When and how did you start at Systeem?
I’ve been with Systeem since February of 2015. I met with everyone in the Denton office prior to being hired. I liked the people and decided that the chance to work with this team was one that I would enjoy.
What kinds of projects do you like working on?
I really enjoy doing new site setups — getting everything together and organized, and then seeing it all come together to form a complete working system. That is really satisfying. When everything is said and done, it is also a good feeling to know that the client has what they need in place to achieve success with their business.
What’s your technical “pet peeve”?
I think that one of the things that bothers me the most would be complacency when it comes to security by users on the web. I feel like some people feel secure just because they have anti-virus running on their computers. They aren’t aware that anti-virus software is only capable of preventing infection by known threats. Even when running anti-virus software, you should always approach unknown files and documents with a skeptical view. If you are not certain about where a file came from or if it seems odd, it is best to verify before you open anything. Due diligence is especially important now that there are pieces of malware out there that can hold your entire data set hostage.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy a variety of activities. One of my favorite things to do is camp. It’s nice to take a break from the everyday things in life and spend time with family and friends around a campfire. When I can’t get away to do that, I enjoy going to the movies, playing video games, and collecting figures and vehicles from comics, sci-fi and horror movies. I’m a huge fan of all three genres. I’m also a big fan of music and concerts. It is my lifeblood when I am on the road stuck in Houston traffic for hours. Without music, I think I would go crazy.
How do you gauge success for your clients?
When someone is having an issue and they are down and unable to perform their duties, it has a huge impact on not just their job, but also on the desired results for the entire company. There are a lot of times when major outages can cause huge problems for a client. Getting those problems resolved is an obvious need, but when I can resolve what may seem like the most minor of issues, I feel like it all adds up to get them where they need to be as a business to succeed.
